Dreamin’ in 2023

Welcome in the New Year

Dreamin', might be my most favorite moments of the year… I get giddy just thinking about the possibilities of a new year. A place in time to be hopeful and dream. I am not afraid of setting some goals, not even afraid of setting too many or making them too big. It is also a special space to make a few reflections. Then judge, yes judge the intentions of my heart and evaluate what should be changed for a better reflection of Thee light and hope.

How do you spend these precious days?

Have you bought into the idea of not making any resolutions so you are not disappointed?  Just watched a movie recently with my new favorite quote “Grief is the price we pay for love.”  And isn’t love worth it?  Love keeps you going even in the tough.  It is ok to desire something and hope for it.  Who knows, what if you attain what you hope for?   Maybe disappointment is the price we pay for hope.  And isn’t hope worth it?

Thinking and reflecting on this year, I embarked on the journey of axing my lurking career for being a little more open and out there.  In the hopes of doing more.  In this little business group I am in there is a real push to do things that move the needle toward things that will matter for the business.  It has changed a lot of my mind about how I do social media.  Like using it, instead of allowing it to pull my mind from the things that matter.

Bring on 2023, in all it’s fresh new beginning where anything is possible. Here is my dreamin’ out loud:

I want to offer more classes -

I’m sure there are many micro fiber farmers out there learning and practicing what to do to make the most of their little space and time.  I want to offer classes for making practice more precise so you don’t have to try many techniques and you can go straight to honing your skill.  Make the suggestion and I will give you the class for Free.  ei. Felt slippers, beginning knitting, fair isle knitting, spinning, prepping fleece…

Publish a few patterns-

I have a few patterns mostly written out that need to be finalized and published.  If you would like to be a tester let me know.

Start YouTube channel - ?????

Yarn review for farm and handspun yarns.  Now this one is still rolling around in my head, but i love the idea.  It would be yarn by suggestion from small farms.  I would purchase the yarn and systematically “test” for the best possible uses.  Understanding that not all yarns are meant for every project.   I’d love for you to weigh in on this one!

In non-fiber dreamin' - but aren’t all dreams related to fiber?

The Eiffel Tour Dreamin' of Paris
Staring up Dreamin' in Paris

Paris? Oui

The Force and I are planning a trip to France for the beginning of April.  We are on a mission trip to help the relaunch of Une Nouvelle Eglise in Paris.  Be still my heart.  So for the sake of working hard to make this happen I will be keeping the shop open till the end of March.  I have a struggle with being “on ” so much, so I will re-evaluate the Boutique Blitz then.

In my little corner of the world luxury fiber is not in high demand, so if we are meant to go I know it’s not what I have made.  I have already seen a few pieces go in my area and I am blown away… and of course before we go I will have to look up a yarn shop or farm too. ~ I would love to bring back some yarn to kick off the yarn review…  hhmmmmm

Farm Dreamin' 2023

Creature Comforts

  • I am planning a litter of bunnies this year.  I am soooo looking forward to babies!
  • Getting off my can and pulling the trigger on the right ram for this fall.  It was a nice hiatus.
  • Schooling the young Border Collies into herding form. A good dog is worth their weight in gold.  Even though Whisper doesn’t weigh very much.

Gardening

  • Gardening like a madd woman.  For the humans and the animals
  • Tweaking the solar dehydrator for major production.  For the humans and the animals

Pizza Oven

  • Dreamin' of building a pizza oven.  For the humans…

Your support keeps me going...

This year the learning curve has been steep and I have spent many hours learning and relearning how to make all the exponents of my website play nicely together. Same as on the farm we all must get along. I feel like the rules must be established: Pets aren’t allowed to eat pets, and so forth. Before we allow for the freedom of too much fun.

In my fumbles and failings, and forging ahead, I sooo appreciate you coming along on this journey with me while I discover where it is I am meant to be in this wide webby world. I only have a million things running in my head to offer at any given time, so focus is my challenge. You can help a whole heap by asking any fiber questions on knitting, spinning, felting, or prepping. I feel like these are my areas of expertise, and I love to share what I have been gleaning the last 20 years. This will help me focus on the things that will be most helpful for you.

While my passion for fiber is easy to download, the skills to make them accessible to you needs to be honed to make them an asset. I thank each one of you who have been so patient while I work out the bugs in the shop and in the emails. I welcome your feedback, and really appreciate you reaching out and suggesting things I can improve on. Your feedback means the world, hit reply any time. I even welcome your corrections. I am human, “but I got big shoulders” so please…
